  4. Broad-leaf trees, which lose their leaves yearly, form the deciduous forests. Located in the temperate zone (between the polar and equatorial regions), great stands of just a few types of trees can cover hundreds of acres. Rich soil and seasonal change characterize this biome.

  6. Animals of this region include: great horned owls, woodpeckers, deer, rabbits and fox.
